My room was exactly what I hoped for after a day of coastal walks and island exploring. Nothing overly fancy, but everything worked perfectly and felt thoughtfully put together. The beds are properly comfortable (which matters more than you’d think after tramping around the island), and there’s enough space to actually unpack without feeling cramped. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night — you can hear the sea in the distance, but none of the street noise that sometimes plagues seaside accommodations.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s where The Wight really shines — the location is genuinely brilliant. You’re a short walk from Sandown’s main attractions, but far enough from the busiest bits that you get some peace. The fact that there’s free private parking on site is honestly a godsend, especially during summer when finding a spot anywhere near the coast becomes a proper nightmare. I mean, couples seem to love it here (they rate the location nearly 9 out of 10), and I can see why — it’s romantic without being isolated.

Breakfast Worth Waking Up For

The breakfast situation actually surprised me in the best way. They do a proper Full English that doesn’t feel like it came from a packet, plus they’ve got vegetarian and gluten-free options that aren’t just afterthoughts. You can tell they put effort into sourcing decent ingredients — the bacon was properly crispy, eggs cooked to order, and the coffee was strong enough to fuel a day of island adventures. It’s served in their bright restaurant area where you can plan your day while watching Sandown wake up outside.

  The staff were very warm and welcoming. The breakfasts were very generous. It was just minutes from the beach, and near some very good days out, at Wildheart Animal Sanctuary. Steam train, Roman villa etc. Good local restaurants, especially Ocean Deck and Yarbridge,Inn. Nice pool if weather wasn't good.

  The room was nice and clean, really comfy and spacious. The actual hotel was great, it had such good facilities, great pool, lovely breakfast. There was a garden to hang clothes, plenty of parking, and the location was great. Staff are really friendly too, just makes the stay that much better.
