The Meadow Flat sits in what I’d call the sweet spot, close enough to the Old Village that you can wander down those gorgeous thatched cottage streets whenever the mood strikes. The beach is an easy walk too, and I mean the proper sandy bit, not just some rocky coastline. Recent guests have been rating the location at 9.0, which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all.

The Accommodation

The room I stayed in had this lovely, lived-in quality — comfortable without being stuffy, if that makes sense. What really struck me was how much thought went into the little details. The windows frame views that actually matter (not just the car park), and there’s enough space to spread out your things without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. The whole setup feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a typical hotel, which I suppose is exactly what you want from a place called “flat.”

I can absolutely see why couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways. There’s something about the atmosphere here that just works for two people wanting to escape together.   Peaceful location in Shanklin as well as being at the back of the property (metal stairs to reach the front door, as seen in the picture). Well presented accommodation with free good wifi. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, proper pint of milk, a selection of breakfast cereals, condiments, a bonus. A lovely little getaway for a couple, almost like home from home, with everything you need included. Easy access down to old Shanklin, just a 10 minute walk away. A perfect base to explore the rest of the i.o.w. from. Great that you get your own parking space, big enough for a small SUV with clearance to open your doors and boot, all at the same time. There is a great walk on your doorstep (see the view from the front room window) to the top of a hill in a field with a fabulous view over Shanklin towards Sundown and beyond. All in all, picking this property, you can't go far wrong, loved it (and reading the guest book so had many others before us). 👍
