Walking up to Seaside in Ventnor, you immediately understand why this four-star hotel has such devoted fans. The building sits perfectly positioned along the seafront, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the place — it doesn’t try too hard to impress, which actually makes it more charming.

The Perfect Spot

You know what really struck me about Ventnor? It’s got this lovely, slightly old-fashioned seaside charm that feels genuinely British rather than touristy. The hotel sits right in the heart of what locals consider the best part of town, and I can see why couples rate the location so highly. You’re literally steps from the beach, but also close enough to wander into the town center for dinner or a proper pint. The Isle of Wight has this way of making you slow down, and Seaside captures that perfectly — you can actually hear the waves from most parts of the hotel.

Accommodation & Comfort

My room faced the sea, which I’d definitely recommend requesting when you book. The décor strikes that tricky balance between coastal charm and modern comfort — think crisp linens and updated bathrooms, but with enough character to remind you where you are. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the windows actually open properly, so you can fall asleep to the sound of the tide. Storage space is decent, though if you’re the type who brings half your wardrobe, you might need to be a bit strategic.

Dining & Social Spaces

The hotel restaurant focuses on local seafood, which makes perfect sense given where you are. I mean, when you’re this close to the water, you’d be mad not to take advantage of the fresh catch. Breakfast is served with sea views, and there’s something quite civilized about starting your day watching the early morning light hit the water. The staff seem to genuinely know their regulars, which tells you something about the kind of place this is — people come back, often repeatedly.

You’re not stuck in some isolated resort bubble — Ventnor has proper character, with independent shops and cafes that locals actually use.
