What I really appreciated was being able to walk to everything — the local pubs, the quirky independent shops, even that brilliant little fishmonger that locals rave about.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in faced the sea, and you know what? Those beds really are as comfortable as everyone says. I’m usually a light sleeper, but something about the combination of sea air and genuinely quality bedding had me sleeping like a baby. The décor strikes this nice balance between seaside charm and modern comfort — think coastal blues and whites without going overboard on the nautical theme. The windows are proper sash windows that you can actually open wide to let in that fresh sea breeze, which beats air conditioning any day when you’re by the coast.

Breakfast Worth Getting Up For

Breakfast here is served in a bright dining room that overlooks the Esplanade, and they’ve really thought about dietary requirements. The full English is done properly — none of that mass-produced nonsense you get at chain hotels — but what impressed me was how well they handle the vegetarian and vegan options. My friend who’s gluten-free was actually excited about breakfast for once, which says something. The staff seem to genuinely know their stuff about ingredients and preparation, probably because they deal with so many repeat visitors who’ve become quite particular about their morning meal.
