The Cowes Week festivities happen right here when they’re on, and the waterfront is just a short stroll down the hill. I loved being able to watch the sailing activity from the town center — there’s always something happening on the Solent, whether it’s racing yachts or the chain ferry chugging back and forth to East Cowes. The fact that Mulberry Cottage includes free private parking is actually a godsend, because finding a spot during busy periods (especially in summer) can be a real headache otherwise.

Everything’s been thoughtfully updated while keeping the character intact — you’ll find modern amenities tucked into spaces that clearly have stories to tell. The beds are genuinely comfortable, which matters more than you’d think after a day exploring the Isle of Wight or watching races from the Royal Yacht Squadron. What I appreciated most was the attention to detail in the furnishings; nothing felt cheap or hastily chosen, and there’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in properly.

You can pop out for morning coffee and end up chatting with locals about the day’s sailing conditions, or grab fish and chips and eat them watching the boats come in. The cottage’s position means you’re close enough to hear the buzz of activity during events, but it’s not so hectic that you can’t find peace when you want it. I found myself just wandering around Market Hill in the evenings — there’s something quite magical about this part of Cowes after the day-trippers have headed home.

  Our stay at Mulberry Cottage was great. The cottage itself is beautiful and our two girls aged 4 and 8 loved playing in the garden and in the cute summer house. The location was spot on and only a few minutes walk into the town for some great restaurants. We were given lots of information about the cottage and the surrounding area which was greatly appreciated and Justine was always very quick to get back to us about any questions we had. We would definitely come back to the Isle of Wight and would definitely stay at Mulberry Cottage.
