Luxury 2 bed Georgian Townhouse, Old Portsmouth Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Luxury 2 bed Georgian Townhouse, Old Portsmouth on Saint Thomas’s Street, you immediately get that “wow, this is special” feeling. The Georgian architecture here isn’t just for show — these buildings have genuine character that you can’t fake with modern construction. I mean, you’re literally staying in a piece of Portsmouth’s maritime history, and honestly, that sets the tone for everything else about this place. The moment you step through the door, you sense the craftsmanship and attention to detail that defines this property.
The Heart of Old Portsmouth
The location is absolutely spot-on, and I get why couples rate it a perfect 10. You’re tucked into Old Portsmouth where the cobblestone streets actually lead somewhere interesting — not like those tourist trap areas where everything feels manufactured. The harbor is practically at your doorstep, and you can walk to the Historic Dockyard without breaking a sweat. What I really love is how you’re close enough to everything but still feel like you’ve escaped the typical hotel crowd. There’s parking on-site too, which — trust me — is gold when you’re dealing with Portsmouth’s narrow streets. The neighborhood offers genuine charm with authentic local character.
The Townhouse Experience
This four-star property gives you that rare combination of historic charm and modern comfort that’s honestly hard to find. The two-bedroom setup means you’re not cramped into a standard hotel room — you’ve got actual space to spread out and live a bit. The Georgian features are still intact (those high ceilings and original windows), but everything’s been updated thoughtfully. You know what struck me most? The attention to detail that makes it feel like staying in someone’s well-appointed home rather than a rental property. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who want to prepare their own meals.
Beyond the Front Door
Here’s something you don’t expect — there’s actually a tennis court available, and if you’re into golf, there are courses within a couple miles that locals swear by. The fishing opportunities around here are legitimate too, especially if you know the right spots along the harbor (which the hosts can point you toward). I appreciate that these aren’t just amenities thrown in for marketing purposes — Portsmouth’s maritime location makes activities like these feel natural rather than forced. The apartment serves as an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.6 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects something real about this place. You’re getting the authenticity of Old Portsmouth without sacrificing comfort, and the hosts clearly understand what travelers actually want. The combination of being steps from historic sites while having your own private space in a genuine Georgian townhouse makes this exceptional. Plus, when couples consistently rate the location a perfect 10, you know you’re onto something special — this isn’t just a place to sleep, it’s actually part of the Portsmouth experience. Whether you’re seeking history, relaxation, or adventure, this property delivers on all fronts.
Locals suggest to book apartments on the Isle of Wight around Bembridge for harbor cafés and lifeboat museum strolls.

We felt privileged and excited to stay in such a lovely home. – Jerry from United States (10/10)
Exquisite furnishings in beautifully restored historic townhome once owned by Captain Hardy who served with Admiral Lord Nelson. Beautiful rose garden with seating. Views of the tall harbor mast feature that lights up at night, and a marina. Next to Portsmouth Cathedral. Walk to pubs and old harbor or short taxi to HMS Victory and Mary Rose museums.
Lovely stay for all year round and will recommend to others – Alex from United Kingdom (9/10)
Loved that whilst the property was clean with modern touches, it very much held true to it's historical charm. Perfect location in old Portsmouth.

Beatifully decorated house. Lovely bedrooms and sitting room in particular. Great decor, very much to my taste and oozing style. Great views of the cathedral, a very atmospheric location. Overall, a place that feels really special.
Well equipped kitchen and a nice garden too. Location is perfect in old Portsmouth close to the docks, Southsea seafront and with restaurants, pubs etc all close by. Smooth check-in. Great value. The house is the star. The decor is beautiful. – Marcus from Australia (10/10)
The 260 year old 4 story home has been lovingly restored to a very high standard. It is across the road from Portsmouth Cathedral and we parked right outside. The location was perfect to explore Old Town Portsmouth. There is a great pub across from the cathedral called The Dolphin which has great food and a very talented barman. The walled garden out the back is lovely.
