Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Linden House — it’s tucked away on Chichester Road in what feels like a sleepy corner of West Wittering. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones hiding in plain sight. This four-star property has that understated English charm that immediately puts you at ease, and the fact that there’s free parking right on site (trust me, this matters more than you think in this area) already had me feeling like I’d made a smart choice.

Location & Neighborhood

West Wittering is one of those places that locals try to keep secret, and staying at Linden House puts you right in the heart of it all. You’re actually just a short walk from some of the most stunning beaches on the south coast — I mean, we’re talking proper sandy stretches that rival anything you’d find in Cornwall. The village itself has that authentic English seaside feel without the tourist traps, and I found myself wandering down to the harbor most evenings just to watch the boats come in. What really struck me was how couples seem to gravitate toward this spot — and after spending a few days here, I totally get why it scores so highly for romantic getaways.

The Accommodation Experience

The rooms at Linden House strike that perfect balance between comfort and character. Mine had these lovely period details — original beams and such — but with all the modern touches you actually need (decent WiFi, proper shower pressure, that sort of thing). The beds are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable, and the windows open wide to let in that fresh sea air. I particularly appreciated the thoughtful touches like good reading lights and enough surface space to actually unpack properly — small things, but they make a real difference when you’re settling in for more than just a night.

Exploring the Area

What I love about staying here is how it connects you to the real West Wittering experience. The staff actually know the area — they pointed me toward this fantastic coastal walk that most visitors completely miss, and recommended a local pub that serves the kind of fish and chips that spoil you for anywhere else. The beach access is brilliant, and if you’re into water sports or just fancy a proper seaside ramble, you’re sorted. Even in the quieter months, there’s something magical about having those expansive beaches practically to yourself.

  We were very pleased when we first saw the house, it looked very beautiful and the gardens were very well maintained. We chose to have the hot tub for the weekend, which was really nice, both during the day and once in the evening all lit up (very romantic). The continental breakfast was delivered in a beautiful hamper which we took to the beach one day and sat out in the garden on the chairs provided for us on the 2nd day. It was full of lovely pastries. toast and butter, Jam, Marmalade, fruit, yoghurt, Honey, soft cheeses, Muesli & Granola. The Fridge was also stocked with Orange Juice, milk and there was Teas, Nespresso coffee, sugar etc. There was also Wine & Beer at an additional cost. The Bedroom and bathroom were very nicely decorated and were immaculately clean and had their own range of shower gels, soaps, sprays which had a beautiful scent and can be purchased. West Wittering beach was a lovely 40 minute walk or a 5-10 minute car journey. Russell and Lulu were very pleasant and I would highly recommend a stay here.

  Perfect hosts, not intrusive but there when we needed help, and shared info for eating out (The Lamb pub just up the road and Boulevard in East Wittering both have gluten free menus and great food). Accommodation in the West Wing is compact, not overlooked and really quiet. Would choose Linden House again if visiting that area.

  The description is a little confusing as it states the property is bed and breakfast but the breakfast is only provided in the house accommodation, as the West Wing is self catering, although provisions can be supplied.
