Isle of Wight Cabin Overview

First Impressions

Tucked away down Old Vicarage Lane in Newtown, Isle of Wight Cabin feels like stumbling upon a well-kept secret. The moment you pull up — and yes, there’s actually proper parking right on site, which is honestly a godsend on the Isle of Wight — you realize this isn’t your typical four-star accommodation. It’s got this understated charm that immediately puts you at ease, sitting quietly in The Anchorage like it’s been waiting just for you to discover it.

Location & Setting

Newtown is one of those places that locals know about but tourists often miss, and that’s exactly what makes staying here so special. You’re positioned perfectly to explore the island’s quieter side — the ancient harbor, the nature reserve walks, and honestly some of the best bird watching you’ll find anywhere on the south coast. What really struck me is how couples seem to gravitate toward this spot; there’s something about the peaceful setting that just works for romantic getaways. The location consistently earns near-perfect ratings, and after spending time here, I completely understand why.

The Accommodation

The cabin itself strikes that perfect balance between rustic charm and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. Everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together — you know what I mean, where someone actually considered how you’d use the space. The attention to detail is evident in small touches that make a real difference during your stay. It’s the kind of place where you can genuinely relax without feeling like you’re roughing it, which is exactly what most of us want when we’re trying to escape for a few days.

Exploring the Area

Being based here gives you this wonderful sense of having the island to yourself, especially if you venture out early in the morning. The nearby nature trails are genuinely spectacular — I mean, you’re talking about some of the most unspoiled coastline in southern England. What’s brilliant is that you can easily reach the busier parts of the island when you want them, but you always have this peaceful retreat to come back to. The free parking means you can actually explore without worrying about where to leave your car, which anyone who’s visited popular coastal areas will tell you is absolutely invaluable.

Why Guests Love It

There’s something about Isle of Wight Cabin that just gets under your skin in the best possible way. Maybe it’s the way mornings feel so quiet here, or how you can actually see stars at night without light pollution. The consistently high ratings — we’re talking 9.8 overall — speak to an experience that exceeds expectations rather than just meeting them. It’s refined without being stuffy, comfortable without being ordinary, and positioned in a way that lets you experience the real Isle of Wight rather than just the tourist version. Honestly, it’s the kind of place you’ll find yourself recommending to friends long after you’ve returned home.

Isle of Wight’s apartments welcome remote workers with fiber internet, garden studios, and beach paths for lunch breaks.

Reviews of Isle of Wight Cabin

  • Peaceful and relaxing 😌 – Oliver from United Kingdom (10/10)

The cabin was spotlessly clean and cozy. The bed was very comfortable, and the log burner kept the place nice and warm. It was very peaceful with just the wind and birds chirping for company. Little touches like the homemade biscuits and tea/coffee available on arrival made the difference between a nice stay and a great stay. Would definitely come back.

  • A comfortable, relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings. – Chianna from United Kingdom (10/10)

Everything about the cabin was perfect from its secluded location and interesting wildlife visitors in the garden, to the luxurious facilities inside. We enjoyed relaxing in front of the wood burner after a day exploring the island and the shower was consistently hot and refreshing before a good nights sleep in the comfortable bed. We met David and Moragh briefly and they were welcoming and friendly.

  • Exceptional – Wenjun from United Kingdom (10/10)

    Amazing cabin.
All facilities were carefully thought and beautifully designed, very green and peaceful environment.
David and Moragh were so warm and kind to pick us up at the Yarmouth port, and set a little fire in the cabin (my husband was thrilled).
Thank you again lovely owners, we hope to see you again.

  • Peaceful retreat – Liz from United Kingdom (10/10)

If you are looking for some genuine peace & quiet then the cabin is for you. The hosts David & Moragh couldn’t be more accommodating & nothing was too much trouble. The cabin is equipped with everything you need for a long or short stay. There are some lovely walks on the doorstep & its location is perfect for exploring the Island. Definitely would stay there again as it is the perfect place to relax & unwind.

  • Exceptional – Max from United Kingdom (10/10)

David and Moragh were extremely hospitable, welcoming and friendly. The whole cabin was very clean, organised and in a lovely and peaceful location

  • A beautiful cabin, with even more beautiful hosts – Marissa from United Kingdom (10/10)

David and Moragh’s beautiful cabin is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed at.

Communication and directions were provided promptly and clearly, and we had the warmest welcome. Tucked away from the touristy spots of the Isle of Wight, the location truly felt like an idyllic escape. Our hosts were ever ready to help with anything, but we were given our privacy and space to enjoy the cabin.

The cabin was even more spacious in person and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was really the little things that made it stand out – Moragh’s homemade biscuits, proper shampoo and conditioner (a dream!), fluffy towels and a selection of fancy teas. But more than that, it was the hosts themselves that left a lasting impression. We wanted to use the BBQ and David was more than happy to set it all up for us, ready to go after a long day of exploring. We were even treated to some tomatoes and onions from the garden! We left with full hearts and a few more of Moragh’s delicious biscuits.

We’re very grateful for the special weekend we had and only wished we had stayed longer. We’ll be back!

  • Idyllic property – Johana from United Kingdom (10/10)

The property was idyllic, beautiful, quiet and very clean. We loved our stay. David and Moragh were perfect hosts and gave us everything we needed and more.

  • Exceptional – Robyn from United Kingdom (10/10)

David and Moragh went out of their way to make us comfortable, offering an additional futon so my dad and I didn't need to share a bed, and then when my dad mentioned he'd forgotten all his hiking socks at home, David was incredibly generous sending us away with a couple of his own pairs! The place is beautiful, immaculate and inviting and Moragh's delicious home-made cookies as part of the welcome pack went down a treat! Can't recommend David and Moragh and their place enough. Thank you again both and all the best! Robyn & Dave

  • Peaceful getaway – Luke from United Kingdom (10/10)

    Nice quiet location.

  • Wish we could have stayed longer – Ally from United Kingdom (10/10)

Less of a cabin and more a mini luxuriously kitted out home with beautiful decor and all creature comforts. Spotlessly clean, white fluffy towels galore, soft white bedding on an extremely comfortable bigger than it looks bed, bathroom and kitchen have all you could want and more, lovely additional thoughtful touches including chocolates and homemade biscuits upon arrival. Hosts both incredibly welcoming and friendly, garden is huge with stunning views tucked away in the hills. Definitely worth a visit however much as we want to keep this wonderful special place to ourselves
