The fact that they offer free private parking right on site might sound mundane, but honestly, in Shanklin during peak season, that’s worth its weight in gold.

I mean, the location here is actually ridiculous — and I say that in the best possible way. We’re talking about what’s consistently rated as the top area in Shanklin, and after spending time here, I completely get why couples are giving it a 9.9 rating. You’re literally a stone’s throw from the cliff-top walks and those gorgeous gardens that Shanklin’s famous for, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the hustle and bustle of the main tourist strips. The Chine itself — that dramatic tree-lined ravine leading down to the beach — is practically on your doorstep.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this lovely balance of traditional charm and modern comfort that’s honestly hard to nail down. Nothing felt overdone or trying too hard, which I appreciated. The windows offered these glimpses of the surrounding area that reminded you you’re somewhere special without being showy about it. What I really loved was how quiet everything was — you’d never guess you’re so close to all the action based on how peaceful the evenings were.

Dining & Atmosphere

The restaurant here deserves a mention because it’s one of those places where the food actually matches the setting. I wasn’t expecting much initially (hotel dining can be hit or miss, let’s be honest), but they’ve clearly put thought into sourcing local ingredients and creating dishes that feel connected to the Isle of Wight. The atmosphere during dinner service strikes this nice balance — refined enough for a special occasion but relaxed enough that you don’t feel like you need to whisper.

  Lovely location to stay at with a nice garden to spent time in. Located next to a small park and very close to the beach with a couple of restaurants. Since the lodge is located slightly towards the end of Shanklin it was quieter than expected!
