3 The Mews Overview
First Impressions
You know what caught me off guard about 3 The Mews? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street in Ryde that feels almost secret — like you’ve stumbled onto something the locals have been keeping to themselves. This four-star boutique property sits in what used to be old mews houses, and honestly, the conversion is pretty brilliant. The entrance has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me” but definitely whispers “you’re somewhere special.”
The Perfect Isle of Wight Base
Ryde gets overlooked sometimes, but staying here made me realize why couples rate this spot so highly — it’s got that sweet spot location thing figured out. You’re actually close enough to walk to the Esplanade and those gorgeous sandy beaches, but far enough from the summer crowds that you can have a proper conversation without shouting. The ferry connections to Portsmouth are just a few minutes away, which is handy if you’re island-hopping or need to pop back to the mainland. I mean, you get all the charm of the Isle of Wight without feeling completely cut off from civilization.
The Room Experience
My room had this lovely mix of period features and modern comfort that actually worked — sometimes these conversions can feel forced, but this felt natural. The windows looked out over the quiet street, and there’s something really peaceful about waking up somewhere that feels residential rather than touristy. The bed was properly comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss that can be), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that makes you want to stay in longer than you should. Little touches like the locally-sourced toiletries and the thoughtful lighting made it clear someone had put real thought into the guest experience.
Dining and Local Flavors
While there isn’t a full restaurant on-site, the breakfast situation is sorted with some lovely local options just a short walk away — and honestly, this gives you a better feel for the area anyway. The staff pointed me toward this brilliant little café that does proper English breakfasts with ingredients from Island farms. What I really appreciated was how they seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out, giving recommendations that felt personal rather than scripted. There’s something to be said for staying somewhere that connects you with the local scene rather than keeping you in a hotel bubble.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.8 rating starts making sense when you realize this place gets the fundamentals absolutely right — it’s comfortable without being fussy, well-located without being touristy, and personal without being intrusive. The fact that couples consistently rave about it tells you something about the atmosphere they’ve created here. It’s the kind of place where you can have a proper romantic getaway without feeling like you’re in some generic “romantic hotel” package. Parking is sorted (which, let’s be honest, can be a nightmare in these coastal towns), and the whole experience just flows smoothly from check-in to check-out.
Locals suggest to book apartments on the Isle of Wight around Bembridge for harbor cafés and lifeboat museum strolls.

The host was very nice and gave us the room early and let us leave a little late. The place was beautiful. Rooms were clean, and the kitchen had all the utensils needed. There were even some groceries such as milk and bread. We had a lovely time. The garden was amazing. Kids enjoyed it a lot. The place was very convenient as a lot of shops were nearby.
