1 The Stables Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to 1 The Stables on Haven Street, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name. But this four-star property immediately caught my attention — it’s one of those converted heritage buildings that actually feels authentic rather than trying too hard. The parking situation is brilliant here, which you’ll appreciate if you’ve ever tried finding a spot anywhere on the Isle of Wight during peak season. They’ve got proper private spaces right on site, and trust me, that’s worth its weight in gold.
Location & Neighborhood
The location really is something special — recent guests have rated it 9.5 out of 10, and I can see why. You’re perfectly positioned to explore without feeling like you’re stuck in the middle of tourist chaos. What I love about this spot is how it gives you that peaceful countryside feel while keeping you close enough to everything that matters. The couples who stay here seem to get it — there’s something romantic about the setting that works whether you’re planning day trips or just want to slow down for a bit.
The Room Experience
My room had that perfect balance of character and comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. The conversion from stables to accommodation has been done thoughtfully — you can still sense the building’s history without sacrificing modern conveniences. The space felt generous, and honestly, the attention to detail impressed me. You know what I mean when you walk into a place and everything just feels right? That’s what happened here. The windows let in lovely natural light, and the overall vibe was calming after long days of exploring.
Practical Comforts
What really sets this place apart is how they’ve thought about the little things that matter. The fact that parking is included and actually convenient makes such a difference — you’re not circling blocks or feeding meters every few hours. The property feels well-maintained throughout, and the staff clearly take pride in what they’re offering. I mean, when you’re getting ratings consistently above 9 out of 10, you’re obviously doing something right. The whole setup just works smoothly, which lets you focus on enjoying your stay rather than dealing with hassles.
Why Guests Love It
After spending time here, I understand why couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways. There’s something about the combination of the peaceful setting, the thoughtful conversion of the historic building, and that excellent location that creates the right atmosphere. You’re getting quality accommodation without the stuffiness that sometimes comes with heritage properties. Plus, with that 9.1 overall rating, you know you’re in for a solid experience. It’s the kind of place where you’ll actually want to spend time at the property itself, not just use it as somewhere to crash between activities.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel on the Isle of Wight before Garlic Festival crowds fill rustic farm retreats.

The location was minutes from the Fishbourne ferry but very quiet with beautiful views at the back and a private terrace and garden at the front. The owner was very helpful and friendly and the beds were super comfy! Had everything you need with plenty of seating in the lounge.
